When an order triggers a “Rate Limit Exceeded” message, it means the lowest available shipping rate is higher than the maximum shipping rate you have configured in your account settings.
To prevent unexpected shipping costs, our system pauses the order until you either approve the rate or cancel the order.
Why This Happens
Each account can set a maximum allowed shipping rate. If all available carrier rates exceed that limit, the order will not proceed automatically.
Example:
- Maximum shipping rate set: $1.00
- Lowest available shipping rate: $7.09
- Result: Order is paused and requires approval
Email Notification:
When this occurs, an email notification is sent to the users configured to receive order notifications. The email explains that the shipping rate exceeded your limit and provides a link to review the order.
From this email, you can:
- Log into the Kase app
- Approve the shipping rate or
- Cancel the order
How to Approve the Shipping Rate
Step 1: Open the Order from the Notification
Click the link in the email to open the affected order in the Kase app.
Step 2: Locate the “Override Shipping Limit” Option
On the order page:
- You’ll see a “Rate Limit Exceeded” status
- In the left-hand menu, select Override Shipping Limit
Alternatively, you may select a different shipping option by clicking the Rates buttotn if another rate better fits your needs.
Step 3: Confirm the Shipping Rate
A confirmation window will appear showing the shipping price. Click Confirm to approve the rate.
What Happens After Approval
Once the shipping rate is approved:
- The shipping label is automatically purchased
- The order moves forward in fulfillment
- The package is handed off to the carrier
No further action is required unless changes are needed.
Important Notes
- Orders cannot proceed until the rate is approved or the order is canceled
- Only users with access to the Kase app can approve the rate
- Adjusting your maximum shipping rate settings may prevent future delays
