We often get asked if it's possible to display the exact shipping costs from our fulfillment system at checkout in Shopify. Here's how the process works and what options you have for setting up shipping rates in Shopify:
Can You Send Live Shipping Rates from Our System to Shopify?
At this time, there is no direct way to send real-time shipping rates from our system to display at checkout in your Shopify store. Here’s why:
Once an order is placed through your Shopify store:
✅ The order flows into our fulfillment system
✅ It is released for picking and moved to the pack station
✅ At the pack station, the order is packaged, weighed, and measured
✅ Based on those final dimensions and weight, our system rate-shops and selects the lowest-cost carrier for that shipment
Because this all happens after the order is placed, we don’t have shipping cost information available at checkout in Shopify.
What Are My Options for Setting Up Shipping Rates in Shopify?
To provide estimated shipping costs to your customers during checkout, we recommend setting up Shipping Zones within Shopify.
With Shipping Zones, you can:
✔ Set different rates based on the final shipping destination
✔ Use flat-rate pricing if desired
✔ Set rules based on order quantity or total weight
✔ Offer free shipping thresholds for specific regions
This gives you full control over the shipping options and pricing your customers see at checkout.
