In 2021, The California South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) launched the Warehouse Actions and Investments to Reduce Emissions (WAIRE) program. This initiative (more details can be found here: WAIRE Program Overview) aims to incentivize the reduction of emissions from vehicles entering and exiting warehouses in the district. The district covers parts of Los Angeles County and extends into portions of Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties.
Our warehouse facility, located at 14339 Whittram Ave, Fontana, CA 92335 (the Facility), falls within this district and will be subject to the WAIRE program starting September 1, 2024.
Under the WAIRE program, a charge will apply to each trip made to the facility, unless the trip is conducted by a Zero Emissions (ZE) or Near Zero Emissions (NZE) vehicle, which can offset this charge. If you are able to dispatch ZE or NZE trucks to our Facility, please notify the Facility Manager of each instance so that these trips are excluded from the emissions calculation.
As a result of this program, a “California WAIRE Charge” will be added to our agreements effective immediately. This charge will apply to all non-ZE/NZE trucks dispatched to the Facility. To simplify matters, we will be covering these costs through a per-parcel fee for outbound parcel shipments and per-truck/outbound fee for non-parcel outbound shipments (e.g., less-than-truckload or truckload shipments).
2025 Waire Fees are as follows
CALIFORNIA WAIRE FEE
LTL/Truckload/Container (inbound or outbound)
Fontana: $7.50/pickup/drop off
Parcel (inbound or outbound)
Fontana: $0.035/parcel
(Fees may fluctuate from year to year depending on regulatory changes)
If you have any questions regarding this fee or its implementation, please feel free to reach out to Kase-Fulfillment@Kase.com.
